As a maternal mental health specialist, I’ve witnessed how deeply the birthing experience can impact a woman’s sense of agency and self-trust. In a world that often prioritizes control, structure, and outcomes, childbirth invites us to do the opposite-to let go, to soften, and to listen inward. It’s not easy. But in surrendering, many women discover strength they didn’t know they had. Letting go doesn’t mean giving up power-it means reclaiming it from a place of trust, intuition, and presence. That’s why I was so excited to sit down with Philippa Cox for this conversation.
Philippa Cox is a movement-based birth educator and guide who encourages women to come back to their bodies and inner knowing. In this episode, we explored what it truly means to trust yourself during pregnancy and birth, and how releasing control can become a powerful gateway to deeper self-connection. Philippa shares her wisdom on cultivating trust, embracing embodied practices, and creating a mindset of openness as birth approaches.
Whether you are preparing for birth or supporting someone who is, this conversation offers grounded, compassionate guidance on how to meet the experience with presence and power.
